Democracy in the Balance focuses on Massachusetts

Join Mary Zepernick of POCLAD and WILPF, Senator Jamie Eldridge, and Rep. Cory Atkins in Concord, MA, at the First Parish Church, 20 Lexington St., Wednesday May 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. for a discussion of the Citizens United case and what can be done at the state level to protect what remains of democracy.



Democracy in the Balance: Corporate Power in Politics

A panel discussion with Jeff Clements, John Bonifaz, and Mary Zepernick. Learn about how the Citizens United decision may impact elections and government, and hear about groups that are working to amend the Constitution to eliminate corporate personhood or take away corporate usurpation of First Amendment rights.

This free forum will be held Friday, March 19, at 7 p.m. at the Trinitarian-Congregation Church, 54 Walden Street, Concord, Massachusetts.

Join Alliance for Democracy activists and colleagues from Massachusetts and Rhode Island for a day of networking, good food, music and inspiration, with a special emphasis on maintaining democracy as we look at media, sustainable communities, health care, the economy, militarism, global trade and electoral issues.

This day-long event will take place at the Wheeler Center in Newton, Massachusetts.

Friday, February 6: Brainstorming session on 350.org activities

Meet at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center in West Concord on Friday, February 6, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. to brainstorm for a Concord demonstration to focus attention on the need to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide to 350 ppm or below. (For background, see www.350.org.)
